I:Crow was developed from super8 footage shot in Pembrokeshire between 2002-2004. It focuses on the relationships between humans, animals (particularly the crow) and the land in rural Pembrokeshire. The work draws on magico-mythological readings of the land from the Mabinogion and the early pre-christianised Arthurian legends as well as recent re-conceptualisations of land and rural spaces in fields such as anthropology and cultural geography. These readings attempt to move away from the picturesque and idyllic understandings of rural landscape and focus instead on ‘dwelling’; examining who or what dwells in the land and how these forces interact together.
